Top and Flop – Two Jersey Tops

— TOP TOP

After I have finished the lavender shawl I still had a 60 cm of a jersey left.

Easy, comfortable and warm (wool bland) jersey top

It was just enough to make a close fitted top for which I used my standard pattern for knitted fabrics. I needed to make a seam at the back – well, you have to compromise somewhere. Continue reading “Top and Flop – Two Jersey Tops”

Advance 8190 first steps

After Studio Faro has solved the puzzle of this vintage pattern Advance 8190 I decided to give it a try.

I have dug out this light pink jersey and after making sure there is enough fabric to make a wearable test model I fist started to make a pattern.

Follow up on UFO’s

During the holidays I have been following the Craftsy sewing class Fashion Draping: Dressmaking Basics by Paul Gallo .

Fashion Draping: Dressmaking Basics

Paul is showing in easy ways step-by-step the process of draping the bodice, skirt and sleeve. He is giving lots of handy tips during the lessons. It was good class for holidays.

After almost one month break it is time to pick up all UFO’s I left behind.

I am not so sure where to start … on the list of UFO’s so far:

the Marfy dress 3096 – the muslin is ready. The next step is to cut it from a fashion fabric. I will make a look B – the majority of the comments was as well for this colour combination.

MMM 2013 and my business trip

For the fist time I was packing for my business trip with greater concentration then usually.

I had to take into account not only number of days, the weather, meetings, dinners, social activities but the Me-Made-May 2013 challenge as well.

Herewith a summary of my MMM2013 wardrobe during this trip.
Additionally I had to remember to take pictures. They are not so good – taken by phone in a hotel room at the mirror … But here they are:

Just before leaving to the airport 9th May – I am wearing my dark blue jacket (Simplicity 4991) from boiled wool and top based on Jalie pattern 2682:

New wardrobe essentials in my wardrobe

Looking outside I see winter weather – temperature below zero, snow falling down, ice on the water, cold wind … so it was time to make few summer tops. After this long winter

I have bought these summer fabrics – jersey, on the fabric market few weeks ago and it was high time to make something out of them.

The results below:

D2N Top of the year

I know I am getting boring with this D2N tops but I promised to take the photos and here they are.
This top is really top of they year!

I did not use the elastic tape for finishing the back neck line but I used stripe of the same jersey. As you can see I have changed the finishing of armholes in this model as well.
I love working with jersey, sewing on serge – it is so easy…

The back neck line and armholes I have finished as well with the stripe of jersey only this time I turned it over and stitched.

I like both of them and I will for sure wear them often. Definitely addition to my wardrobe essentials.

Having my camera on I have taken as well photos of my other top I have made base on Vogue pattern 7799. I was posting about it here.

My skirt with high tail fits as well good and I am really glad with the final result.

Next week there is a huge fabric market – Stoffen Spektakel in Zwolle (NL) – and I am already making a list what kind of fabrics, colours, prints I would like to buy. I am very excited! I am sure there will be a lot of summer fabrics….

Addictive Day-To-Night Drape Top pattern

I have finished my first top Day-To-Night Drape Top (pattern by MariaDenmark). It is exactly as Kim-ing said – simply, easy to make pattern, ready within few hours. And it looks good and suits great. I will take some photos to show you but first I will make another one Knipogende emoticon. Yes, yes, … addictive pattern.

Both tops are/will be made from stretch lycra jersey with great drape – wonderful for this type of design.

The one I have already finished is made of fabric with this colourful – art deco like – pattern…

The next one – already cut off the fabric – will be dark blue (in reality it is really nice dart blue colour).

I still have two jersey fabrics which are a little thicker. I am thinking of making a top with the same neckline however I would like to have long sleeves.

So… I have checked patterns I have … hmmm…. I started to draw the patterns, modify patterns – I have no patience anymore. In the end I have checked Vogue patterns website. They have sale and I was wondering if there is something interesting.

And of course I have found – even more then I needed…

I have picked up three patterns with different front and collar finishing. They all can be made with short sleeves or sleeveless.

I think I will be able to pick up something for these two fabrics.

I will probably make two different tops – and check patterns at the same time.

Now back to my skirt where I still have to attach lining and make hem.
