Last day in Poland

Two weeks gone and it is time to go back home. My last day by my mom was busy – last activity  – windows cleaning.

Of course before you start to clean you have to make a space: take out the curtains, plants in flowerpots … and then I came across a box with so many memories. It was the box full of old documents and pictures. I started to browse through it immediately. So many treasuries.

I wrote about cleaning of my mom’s wardrobe and garments I made for her. Today I came across a picture of my mother wearing this summer jacket and skirt (btw. I have made this silk top as well).

She was wearing it at her last day at work and many times during her retirement.

It is time to make for her new garments.

Today is a travel day – I hope there will be dry and no traffic jams.

The test garments follow up

My last test garments are ready. I have no more time to make more. I still have to help my mother with some spring cleaning and my work is calling as well.

1. I ma glad though I have managed to make the top of this Butterick pattern B5813. Generally speaking I will have make simple strait skirt to it but I prefer to have it cut in the waist. I have to try it and check it.

Well prepared for winter

I am glad I have made this jacket – already more than year ago. It was perfect for these few days winter we had the last week in the Netherlands.

The jacket is made based on the Butterick pattern B5424 (OOP). It supposed to be reversible however I did it my full lined and underlined version.
You may check the process of sewing on my blog here, here and here.

My mother – the best client

My mother is the best client but not the easiest. As a daughter of the tailor she know exactly how garment should fit.
Still I like to make garments for her. After some break, few years ago I have made for her a jacket and a skirt. There are new items on the list now.

The pants for my mother are almost ready. I will keep the basting lines for fitting.
I am taking the muslin with me so I can check fit and correct if necessary.
I hope they will fit as she lost weight on hospital meals.

I started on the next project – a jacket! And maybe a skirt.

I like my French jacket

I decided to change the side panels to the red lining. It looks much better now. I will put the stripes from the same lining along the hemline, centre front line and neckline. And the hem of the sleeves of course.

All seams in lining are hand stitched now – the whole jacket start to look as jacket. I like it.

THE CHANEL LEGEND – THE CHANEL EFFECT

The Gemeentemuseum Den Haag reported that its exhibition ‘The Chanel Legend’ has already clocked up 40,000 visitors – I was one of them.

On Friday there was a special evening organised by the Museum “The warm winter evening” (Warme Winteravond) with different activities connected with different exhibitions taking place at the museum at this moment.

The Gemeentemuseum Den Haag reported exhibition 'The Chanel Legend'

The Chanel Legend exhibition presents at a glans the short and fascinating story of Coco Chanel and her renowned fashion house. I have to admit – I did not learn anything new about Chanel however it was absolutely fabulous to see all range of Chanel designs.

Strange weekend

It was suppose to be a sewing weekend… I have not too many sewing plans but one – go further with my French jacket.

Seeing all fabulous creations on blogs I just want to sew!

After being sick for few weeks and away for my work I cannot get back to my routine… the short, grey days are not helping at all 😦

I am making small things to keep me in some mood but it is not what I would like to be doing.

I have finished the next hat for my mother… she likes – fortunately, as this one is made from the fabric she bought for it.
