Less than 1 meter fabric … no problem!

You have these moments when you see a piece of a fabric and immediately know what you want to make out of it.

That was exactly with this piece of a little stretch woven satin.  It was just enough to make this top with drape neckline. I used the Vogue pattern V9771.

This is perfect top to wear with my pencil skirts or pants.

Both – front and back, are cut on bias thus no bust darts are needed.

This is pattern which you can easy make in one day and it is great wardrobe builder.

Stoffenspektakel Apeldoorn

However my DH asked me to make for him an inner pocket he could attach in the suitcase for all small things he needs during his business trips. So here I go to Stoffenspektakel (fabric market) spring edition.

I have found out these 2 fabrics – linen with prints, to use for this purpose.

Then I have seen this linen with printed cats on it – I had to buy. I will either make a jacket or dress out of it. Or other things for home. I don’t know yet.

Making test garments

I took with me for these two weeks at my mom’s a lot of patterns – much to much of course – to make muslins.

After the first week of doctors visits and other less interesting activities on Sunday I have made two muslins for the future dresses.

1. From the Silk Charmeuse I am planning to make the top of the dress as below draped on the dress form.

I have made the muslin only for the top part based on the Vogue V8787 pattern. Other options would be using the Vogue pattern V9771. Continue reading “Making test garments”
