Gold & Black Panel for Your Dreamed Circle Skirt

Grab a chance to wear self-made circle skirt during the Xmas Dinner.

With this gold and black panel fabric it will be a piece of cake for you. I have just listed it in my RPT Couture shop on Etsy.

circel skirt, gold, black, sewcialist, couture, handmade, sewcialists,

You could ease pair it with a simple black top for retro look.
The panel is 180 cm wide and 180 cm long. You may make 1 circle skirt or 2 half-circle skirts. The choice is yours!

The fabric is viscose/polyester in gold with velvet like black pattern.
Don’t wait too long – there is only one piece available.

Making a circle skirt is easy. The only measurement you need to know is your waist circumference (c).

With this panel you already have outer circle marked – which you can always adjust.

To proceed further you have to calculate a radius (r) using the formula:

r = c / 2π

r = radius
c = circumference (circle circumference = the waist circumference)
π = 3,14 (constant number)

After calculating the radius, you have to measure it from the center of the circle to its edge.

The length of the skirt you then measure from the waist (the circle edge) to the outer edge.

You may as well follow the pattern making waist opening bigger and adjust it to your measurements by nice elastic band.

If you have no time for calculation you may use this simple pattern I have found out on What A Craft.

Dont forget to cut a waist band and keep in mind the seam allowances.

Good luck!

Easy Two Hours Top

Long ago I have bought the KwikSew pattern 2740 – Misses’ Tops.

It is VERY simple, strait froward pattern. If you just starting sewing, starting using knit fabrics (jersey, interlock) – this is a perfect pattern for you.

KwikSew pattern, 2740, top, woman top, jersey, wool jersey, RPT Couture, handmade, sewcialists, made to order,

It is so simple that I am ashamed of buying it. It looks like I’ve bought it only to use a paper it is printed on. It is so heavy adjusted to my measurement that there is little left from the original.  Still – if you start sewing with jersey – just use this pattern for simple tops.

Together with the fabrics for the French Jacket I have bought this light blue jersey wool. It is a little felted on one side. I had immediately very warm feeling when I touched this fabric.

KwikSew pattern, 2740, top, woman top, jersey, wool jersey, RPT Couture, handmade, sewcialists, made to order,

I decided to make a simple top – perfect addition to skirts for my business attire. I have bought only 80 cm (about 31,5 in). It is just enough to make a top – usually I put a seam at the center back. Continue reading “Easy Two Hours Top”

Friday Evening Silk Painting

It was fabulous experience! I was dreaming of silk painting for years. I have got once a start-up package – never open it. I was always feeling it is not time yet.

When I have seen an invitation to visit open atelier of Sonja Smalheer and Zijdar I did not hesitate to sign in.

The second part of the evening was devoted to the trends for 2015. We had a wonderful overview of the most important trends for upcoming year.

Before I left I took the last picture of our work. If you look rally carefully you can see a lot of  happening on this painting.
