Decluttering part 1 – Burda Magazines – All these memories

From time to time it is good to declutter my sewing atelier and the office.

This time I decided to make some order in books and magazines.

When moving from Poland to the Netherlands I took with me my collection of Burda magazines from 80’s – 90’s. Well, you never know. Besides I have made so many garments based on the patterns from Burda that it could be useful.

Burda, Byrda International, paper patterns, sewcialists, burda patterns

Hmmm…  once in a box – they stayed in the box.

When I open the box it was as opening a time capsule – so many memories. Good one!

It appeared a real treasure – I even came across few patterns I might to use to make some garments soon.

Decluttering is a very hard job which I could not do without my helping hand – Bolle.

Anyway – I picked up few magazines and the rest put back in the box.

No, I am not yet ready to say good bye to them so I found for them a nice place in the attic.

Where the couture begins…

When I order a pattern usually it is taking about 2 weeks before I receive it. So ordering the Marfy pattern on Monday I was expecting it somewhere next week. And guess what? It has already arrived – so fast – wonderful!

How I was surprised when I opened the envelope and I took out this small package … pattern wrapped in a sheet of pater with a sticker.

Vogue 7799 top–one day project

I was planning to start working on my LBD for the RP contests – but I was too tired and I needed to make something which I could finish in one day.

DSC_0318

I have a lot of patterns and it is always difficult to choose which one shall I make. This time I decided to make top using pattern Vogue 7799 view C.

By the way … as participant of the UFO/Stash Basting Project I can proudly announced that another fabric is gone. It is jersey wool bland in a light grey/beige colour.

I have adjusted the pattern to my size – I have made the bodice 3 cm shorter and sleeves 2 cm shorter – and cut with 0,7 mm seam allowances as I was using only serge to connect the pieces.

DSC_0314

I have stabilized shoulders seam and neckline with a tape. After connecting both fronts to the back I try it on and decided to shorten the shoulder seam about 1 cm.

DSC_0319

I decided to finish the bottom seam with one of the fancy stitches of my HUSQVARNA VIKING Emerald 203 sewing machine.

I like such easy and quick projects. You can see effect almost immediately and I can wear it tomorrow!

My Meisje likes it as well…. Emoticon met brede lach

So I have took a photo when wearing it… it feels very warm…

Little Dark Blue Dress – follow up…

Step by step … I am trying to sew daily about 2 hours… I am progressing on my LDBD.

This week again I will be away for few days for my work…. lost days.

Status so far – front and back of the bodice as well as skirt is finished.

DSC_0122-001DSC_0124-001DSC_0125DSC_0128-001

As I adjusted the patterns using my basic bodice/skirt patterns I was curious if the dress will fit. I connected all parts and tried it out… it fits ok.

DSC_0137-001DSC_0138-001DSC_0140-001DSC_0141DSC_0149-001

I will adjust the neckline – make it a little dipper. The zipper has nice line.

DSC_0147DSC_0150

Now I have to take it apart again so I could easier work on few details.

But first – the lining. All parts are cut off and connected.

DSC_0154DSC_0158

First I attached the lining to the neckline. The next steps are armholes and site seams…

But this either tomorrow or next week.

I have to start my Little Black Dress for Pattern Review contest – time is running!

My pattern stash on Pattern Review

Vastleggen in volledig scherm 28-10-2012 232122.bmpSome time ago I signed in to Pattern Review and recently I have discovered that I can store information on all my patterns I have ever bought there. I was trying to make some lists in Excel but the number of patterns was growing too fast.

Next to the information about the pattern I can see reviews – which are very useful when you want to make this garment.

Wow … I did not know I had more than 200 patterns … oooops Knipogende emoticon

I put about 90% of my patterns there – I am still finding patterns hidden somewhere in the drawers …
