Marfy Jacket 3350 – fabrics

While searching my fabric stash for a fabric I could use to make the jacket based on  Marfy 3350 pattern I came across these two ones.

The blue/white fabric is loose woven wool bland.

This brownish one is linen bland. It is more stiff than the above one.

Looking at the qualities and properties of both fabrics I think I will go for the blue/white one. It is softer and looking at my wardrobe – I have much more combination possibilities.

But everything depends on the amount of fabric – I have to check if I have enough of this blue/white fabric to make it the way I want.

The brownish one will become either a dress or jacket/skirt combination.

Meanwhile the book Couture Sewing: The Couture Skirt: more sewing secrets from a Chanel collector by Claire Shaeffer has arrived.  It went so fast!

Something is telling me that this will be my next project … soon.

Which one would you advice?

The Wrap Top DONE

After meters of hand under-stitching I can confirm that the Wrap Top Neue Mode – STIL – M22745 is done.

It looks not so bad – at least on the dress form.

Then I have noticed I had actually no skirt or trousers to wear with it so I went to my fabric shop (which soon will be closed) to look for a fabric for a summer skirt.
Due to the shutting down the shop all fabrics are for sale with huge discount.

Stoffenspektakel Apeldoorn

Due to all family issues I was not able to visit previous fabric markets and I was not so sure if I should go there this time – I know I could not resist fabrics.

However my DH asked me to make for him an inner pocket he could attach in the suitcase for all small things he needs during his business trips. So here I go to Stoffenspektakel (fabric market) spring edition.

I have found out these 2 fabrics – linen with prints, to use for this purpose.

Then I have seen this linen with printed cats on it – I had to buy. I will either make a jacket or dress out of it. Or other things for home. I don’t know yet.

It was difficult to resist – new fabrics in my fabric stash

This is a part of fabrics I have bought during the fabric market – Stoffenspektakel in Zwolle.

There are mostly jerseys for tops (black, red and yellow) – quick projects – as well as a stretch fabric for pants. Yes, I will have to tackle this topic again. Maybe I will have to find a sewing partner to help me with fitting. This will be in-between project while working on a French jacket – a part of the Little French Jacket sew-along.

Thanks Jo  and Annekke for organizing this fantastic meeting!

In short – we have followed the programme proposed by Jo. We have met at 10:30 at Zuidstation – we have been with the total of about 10-11 people – and then walk to Berger (full of really cheap fabrics – pity I did not come by car…).

Starting working on a new project – dress Vogue 8648

When I am tired I know something could go wrong so I prefer to work on something easy. The muslin of Marfy dress is waiting to be disassembled so I could put all adjustments on the pattern pieces. I think I will trace patterns to keep originals untouched. Tomorrow ….

Having wonderful summer weather outside is not helping to sit inside … I see so many posts with stunning summer dresses… so it is time to prepare for new dresses.

I have checked my patterns stash and I have ascertained that I have few summer patterns already traced and ready to be turn to dresses Glimlach
