Coat – the next sewing project on the list

Some time ago I have bought a black cashmere/wool fabric for a coat. I have a dream coat on my mind with:

  • high waist
  • pleat at the back
  • collar

souds not so complicated. Meanwhile – 3-4 muslins further – I am still trying to find the best fit.

I have made muslin of a coats from Vogue V8626 and Marfy 3177. Eventhough they had features from the above list – I was not impressed. Continue reading “Coat – the next sewing project on the list”

Well prepared for winter

I am glad I have made this jacket – already more than year ago. It was perfect for these few days winter we had the last week in the Netherlands.

The jacket is made based on the Butterick pattern B5424 (OOP). It supposed to be reversible however I did it my full lined and underlined version.
You may check the process of sewing on my blog here, here and here.

Starting working on a new project – dress Vogue 8648

When I am tired I know something could go wrong so I prefer to work on something easy. The muslin of Marfy dress is waiting to be disassembled so I could put all adjustments on the pattern pieces. I think I will trace patterns to keep originals untouched. Tomorrow ….

Having wonderful summer weather outside is not helping to sit inside … I see so many posts with stunning summer dresses… so it is time to prepare for new dresses.

I have checked my patterns stash and I have ascertained that I have few summer patterns already traced and ready to be turn to dresses Glimlach

Some of the upcoming projects (to bust some fabrics and patterns):

MMM 2013 and my business trip

For the fist time I was packing for my business trip with greater concentration then usually.

I had to take into account not only number of days, the weather, meetings, dinners, social activities but the Me-Made-May 2013 challenge as well.

Herewith a summary of my MMM2013 wardrobe during this trip.
Additionally I had to remember to take pictures. They are not so good – taken by phone in a hotel room at the mirror … But here they are:

Just before leaving to the airport 9th May – I am wearing my dark blue jacket (Simplicity 4991) from boiled wool and top based on Jalie pattern 2682:

New wardrobe essentials in my wardrobe

Looking outside I see winter weather – temperature below zero, snow falling down, ice on the water, cold wind … so it was time to make few summer tops. After this long winter

I have bought these summer fabrics – jersey, on the fabric market few weeks ago and it was high time to make something out of them.

The results below:

New Butterick patterns–Spring collection

ButtericB5880 Retro Dress Pattern Spring collection 2013

Well… from all new sewing patterns from the Butterick Spring collection the only pattern I like is this Retro pattern B5880

ButtericB5880 Retro Dress Pattern Spring collection 2013ButtericB5880 Retro Dress Pattern Spring collection 2013

I like the top of the dress however it is nothing new. The skirt is easy to make and probably I will use my basic skirt pattern.

As usually used fabrics, colours and prints on the fabrics making it stunning till you look at drawings.

Vintage inspired fused glass jewelry and accessories

Meanwhile I have finished my website – well… as with everything it is never finished of course. I set it live – even my web shop is working.

At least now I can work on new pendant, earrings, etc., and go back sewing – next top Day-To-Night Drape Top (pattern by MariaDenmark) Knipogende emoticon.

Just a skirt – fabric stash busting

DSC_0181I have bought once this piece of fabric. It is a wool bland in white, black, grey colour. It will be fine for this colder days. It is just enough for a skirt.

I am going to make this skirt with raised waist – based on Butterick pattern B5396.

This is the same pattern I was using for making a Little Dark Blue Dress (which BTW is still waiting to be finished).

skirtThe front and back is already cut off from the fabric and I have already put the zipper in the back.

I am now busy with lining and interfacing.

This will be my weekend project. I would like to finish it so I could start working on my coat.

Winter jacket completed – winter over

Winter Jacket Butterick pattern

My winter jacket is (almost) completed. Minor finishing touches are still needed.

But… winter is over as well. Ach! Winters in the Netherlands…

Winter jacket – few steps further…

So, it was snowing today – heavily… I was hoping for snowless winter.

The jacket is not yet ready. I was supposed to cut it on Monday but I was too tired. After all these weekends I was working, I needed to take a break. Besides my Mr. was going for his business trip, which meant a small chaos Knipogende emoticon.

When I look back I am not sorry about this as cutting was quite a big puzzle.

Jacket Butterick 5424

As I mentioned before, instead of a reversible jacket I am making the jacket with an underlined lining and a collar from different fabric. I had to first make correct lining pattern –it costs some time.
Making this all with daylight was very helpful.

My goodies arrived!

What a nice surprise was waiting for me when I have came back from my work … the patterns I ordered by the Vogue/Butterick Pattern company has arrived. My pattern stash is getting bigger… ooops. But this 75% discount by Vogue and Butterick was so tempting Knipogende emoticon

There are few retro patterns, few patterns from the newest Butterick collection and some old ones I had on my wish list.

Yes… I will be busy… Emoticon met brede lach
