Hat for the rainy days – next one please

My hat is finished – well… I am still going to add a band around the hat.

Even though the chance is that my spectacles stay dry when walking in the rain – I definitely make another hat with wider brim.

Something for the Dutch Rainy Days

I follow many bloggers from Australia who are celebrating spring and preparing for summer. All these fabulous spring/summer outfits brighten these gray, rainy days we are ‘welcoming’ in The Netherlands.

Almost a year ago I have made few hats for my mother.  At the same time I have bought a fabric to make a hat for myself. All pattern pieces were already cut and they were waiting for me to connect them. The pattern I am using is an adjustment version of the Vogue pattern V8405 – view B (at least I think so as it was long ago).

Short summary – July

July started for me with a big step – Red Point Tailor is now officially registered in a Chamber of Commerce. It feels good and stimulates to follow-up with my plans/goals. Good reason to celebrate!

I was occupied with many different things – not so much sewing though. I was following different online courses for crafters, small businesses, jewelry makers – I will fo sure write about them soon, networking, meetings. I am working on re-styling my website – it is taking ages. Maybe it is time to call for help even though I like to do this.
I have manged to finish the Burda Retro top – I still have to take pictures, and I started on new pencil skirt from linen. I have few potential clients for courses – promising.

In between I am enjoying reading the posts from other bloggers – it motivates and inspire me. Thanks!

Fused Glass Buttons for the Burda Retro Pattern

In the end the Burda Retro Wrap Top  is done. The last things I have needed were buttons.

I looked through my stash but could not find anything suitable. Then I decided to make the buttons from the glass. Fused Glass light blue buttons, Red Point Tailor, webshop, Red Point Tailor design, fused glass buttons This time I used light blue fused glass beads I have made long ago. They turned out wonderful. I will now make buttons for all my garments. It is a great addition to self covered buttons or mixed method. I am going to add fused glass buttons to my webshop – so if you interested just let me know the size and colour so I could check what are the possibilities. You may contact me by e-mail. I still have to find out how to deal with this bow. I see some discrepancies between the retro picture and the new Burda interpretation. I think I will have to find my own way. New hat in making

After Skype session with my mother it was clear that the hat I have made for her was not what she really had in mind. Skype saved time an unnecessary shipping costs.

Making a hat – warming up

From time to time it is fine to have an easy project. I was planning to make a hat for my mother so to warm up after being sick I decided to follow-up on it.

I have made a muslin while visiting my mother in September by copying a hat she has and likes.
