THE CHANEL LEGEND – THE CHANEL EFFECT

The Gemeentemuseum Den Haag reported that its exhibition ‘The Chanel Legend’ has already clocked up 40,000 visitors – I was one of them.

On Friday there was a special evening organised by the Museum “The warm winter evening” (Warme Winteravond) with different activities connected with different exhibitions taking place at the museum at this moment.

The Gemeentemuseum Den Haag reported exhibition 'The Chanel Legend'

The Chanel Legend exhibition presents at a glans the short and fascinating story of Coco Chanel and her renowned fashion house. I have to admit – I did not learn anything new about Chanel however it was absolutely fabulous to see all range of Chanel designs.

Participation in a lecture ‘Chanel: the legend’ showed how many people are fascinated and interested in the history behind Coco Chanel. For a lot of them it was the fist time they heard about Chanel as a person. There was one older lady who with great astonishing realised that “Coco Chanel came from France and was French’ – hilarious.

In addition to original clothing designs, The Chanel Legend includes accessories and a superb selection of Chanel costume jewellery borrowed from private collections.

Making my own French jacket I mainly focused on this part of the exhibition.
I was not disappointed.

I enjoyed watching Chanel jackets from different periods with different cuts, trims, couture solutions – fabulous!

And of course inside of the Chanel jacket was presented with all typical attributes: quilted lining, chain at the hem, topstitching by hand.

Chanel exhibition would not be complete without LBD – Little Black Dress – of course.

The exhibition ends with designs made by Karl Lagerfeld – the iconic German designer who joined the House of Chanel in 198 – for Chanel.

You may take a picture wearing one of the Chanel jackets and/or other accessories – you may go to a social media, type #chanelforeveryone to see all uploaded pictures by participants who became a part of the exhibition, as their pictures appear on the screen in the exhibition space.

If you decide to visit the exhibition you may do this till the 2nd  February 2014.

It was a great eventing! I together with my friends enjoyed the exhibition and all activities organised around it.
