To finish my sewing weekend I have made this very simple jacket. I have bought once a small piece of boiled wool – 1,20 cm. I had few ideas about the jacket I wanted to make.
Of course having so many patterns it is not so easy to choose. Together with the fabric I put aside a patterns but then I came across this Simplicity 4991 in my pattern stash, which includes VERY simple, strait jacket.
I have squeezed the pattern pieces on the fabric and I even had left small piece to make pockets.
Having not enough fabric for finishing the edges I have used serge to finish collar, pockets and hem. The buttonholes are hand finished.
It will be perfect to wear it with tops, skirt and dresses. And the trousers … when ready.
I love the final result very much.
Let’s start to work on trousers now … I have already have few ideas and good patterns. I will however make first a muslin.
Just found this post Beata, what a lovely jacket 🙂
This jacket paid himself back hundreds times. I love it and I was wearing it very often. It was good move. And the pattern is so easy. If you need to make something fast – this pattern is perfect. 🙂
Oh wow I love this. The top stitching is lovely and I couldn’t agree more with all the comments above.
Thanks a lot. It was really quick project and I love it. I wear it almost everyday – It is ideal for this wearhter now.
this is lovely. I actually have a very similar jacket I bought – for a fortune!
Thanks! I am wearing this jackert very often now. It is perfect for this weather and very confortanble 🙂 I am very pleased with it. And the pattern is very easy! I think I will make more jackets using this pattern but different colours – of course 😉
For a little project, it makes a big impact on you versatile wardrobe.
that’s very true … 😉
Oh, this is gorgeous! Very nice jacket. I like how you serged the edges, actually. It adds an element of design to it.
Thanks… it was fun making this jacket – using lockmachine to finish edges speed up work on it. It was really one day project…
wonderful jacket, looks so comfy and stylish! I love the decorative wavy stitches and the fact that you turned little fabric into an opportunity for lovely details like the serged edges of your collar.
Thanks a lot! It was a little challenge but I liked it. Probably with other fabric it would be more difficult to fit the pattern pieces on the fabric.
I am wearing this jacket today and I am really glad of it.
I have to use serge more often to finish edges (if possible) … it is fun!
Oh that looks lovely!!
Thanks a lot!
